Join Our Closed Facebook Group -- Less Public than Facebook Page

You may have noticed recently that I am trying a few different things this month. Essentially if I can’t find a way to grow the site I will have to shut it down at the end of this year as it costs me more money to run than the site can pay for itself.

Why a closed Facebook group?

On a suggestion from reader Rachel, I am starting a closed Facebook group. Closed groups aren’t as public as Facebook Pages and I understand that not everyone wants their friends to know that they’re frugal.

On a closed Facebook group you’ll be able to tag your friends on posts without it being public to the entire world! Your comments will only be visible to other group members.

Just like a the Facebook page, deals will go into your timeline. It’s basically a more private Facebook page and it may entirely replace the site at some point as I am becoming tired of seeing the deals I post get copied and pasted into other peoples websites. Trust me, this happens so much I am starting to believe that 25% of the traffic is just other bloggers.

I am going to start with posting some of the BEST coupon deals I’ve found this morning on the Facebook group. Won’t you join me in saving? 🙂

Add yourself to the Facebook group here and I will approve you >>>

Just a Reminder: Contact Amazon Customer Service About Any Issue You Have

Just a Reminder: Contact Amazon Customer Service About Issue You Have

Amazon isn’t perfect. For the past two days I’ve been asking my Amazon Echo “Alexa, what are your deals?” and for every time Alexa seems to error out half way through getting to the deals.

After getting home from work today I contacted Amazon support over the phone (only 1 min wait time… 🙂 ) and for about 20 mins the rep and I tried a few different things to get it to work but to no avail. She filed the bug for the software development team and even credited my account $10 for the trouble…

Amazon Hack: Two Subscribe & Save Boxes in a Month!

Amazon Hack: Two Subscribe & Save Boxes in a Month!

Playing around with the subscribe & save options I found that moving your subscribe & save date can allow you to have two separate subscribe & save orders shipped to you in a month. My current subscribe & save date is October 5th or the 5th of every month so the deadline to add any items to that has already closed.

Here’s how to get next s&s box sooner:

  1. Go into your subscribe & save management page and find your next delivery. Click “change delivery date”.

2. The closest date I was able to change it to was October 9th, but I changed it to October 11th – which is still pretty awesome. 🙂

3. It warned me I would be getting two orders in a month. That’s okay, it’s what I want. 🙂

4. BAM! A new space for me to put more subscribe & save products that will ship to me by October 11th. 🙂

Amazon Hack: Two Subscribe & Save Boxes in a Month!

Full disclosure: I tried changing the date to October 9th and it just updated my next delivery to November 9th, which I did not want. This happened because Amazon needs time to request the items from manufacturers to prepare the order. Changing the next delivery to October 11th gives me until October 2nd (or tomorrow) to fill it full of stuff. 🙂

I Visited Amazon’s Physical Seattle Store: “Amazon Books”

I Visited Amazon's Physical Seattle Store: "Amazon Books"

This weekend I visited Amazon’s physical presence in Seattle, “Amazon Books”. While Amazon is apparently trying to invest in more physical stores (including a kiosk in my local mall), this quiet little bookstore by the University of Washington serves as Amazon’s flagship brick and mortar store.

I Visited Amazon's Physical Seattle Store: "Amazon Books"

One of the first things I noticed was that none of the books have prices, in fact every thing that is sold uses the same price that is on Amazon.com! Plus, those tags below the books have actual quotes from the reviews on Amazon.

If you wanted to know the price of a book, you could just download the Amazon app and use the scanning feature to see the price.

There were several sections that counted down the most popular books in each category from their Amazon rankings including best selling children’s books, best selling fiction and most wished for.

Amazon Books also sells toys that have great reviews – 4.5 stars and above! Plus there was an area for kids. You might not think it, but there was actually a lot of people in the store.

And as you might expect they also sold Amazon-produced electronics…

There was also a nice sitting area where you could play around with Amazon tablets! I also saw spaces to plug in and charger your devices. The store also had free wifi – just like any good book store.

I think this might have been Amazon’s version on the Apple Genius bar.

Checkout area proudly displaying some of the most wished for books of 2016 and a photo of what I bought complete with Amazon Books paper bag. 🙂 I had been wanting to read the book, The Girl on the Train for a while now. It’s been turned into a movie starring Emily Blunt and it will be released soon, so you know if Hollywood is turning it into a movie it is good. I paid $8.77 (reg. $26.95) for it in store, which is the same price you can find for it on Amazon.com. 😉

DC Shoes/Clothing Orders Cancelled?

DC Shoes/Clothing Orders Cancelled?

There was an amazing deal on shoes and certain items on clothing the other day where you could get them for 99¢ + $3.99 shipping. Though it sounded too good to be true, orders like these have shipped in the past when companies were looking to liquidate their inventory. Unfortunately the low prices were due to a “pricing mistake” and DC caught it in time for the orders not to ship. :/

I won’t stop posting items that are as low as this, but I guess you just can’t win ’em all.
