How to Avoid the Amazon Add-on Item Restriction!
Is there a way to avoid buying $25 of items in order for your Add-on item to ship? Yes! Yes there is! Well sort of. It involves canceling an order later. Let me explain.
When you add any add-on item to your cart and you have less than $25 of items in your cart – you will not be able to checkout. I added these Singer Large Eye Hand Needles for $0.61 to my cart and attempted to check out and the button was removed.
After that I added the Divergent Pre-Order to my cart. What happens when you pre-order an item is that you don’t get charged for the item until it ships. So technically I won’t be charged $24.96 until August 5th 2014 when it ships, but until then I can totally cancel the item before then and after my needles shipped – so I get an item shipped for only $0.61! Woo! 😉
Update: June 24th 2014
I got my sewing needles in the mail! Immediately afterwards I went on Amazon.com to cancel my package. Could I? YES. 😀
After I cancelled I received a new receipt which indicated that my order was only $0.66 – which was the original price of the sewing needles + California tax.
Important note: I would not do this a lot or you may have your account cancelled. I only want to point out that this method exists. If I find that this method violates Amazon’s terms I will remove it but I have not yet found that.
